A report by Sonia Scoufarides on behalf of the Committee.
THE Greek Night on Saturday 29th October at the Afton Hotel in Cavendish Place Eastbourne was a great success.
A GRAND PROFIT OF £1,955 WAS MADE ON THE NIGHT
The evening was opened up by a welcome from our priest Archmandrite Timothy.
There was both traditional and modern dancing to live Greek bouzouki music provided by the Band from London who was also accompanied by a singer. The event was enjoyed by young and old alike.
Photos can be seen on Facebook and also on this site. Anyone having more photos of the night that they wish to share may contribute them by uploading them to the Facebook group or send them to email@example.com, and they will be added to the website.
The delicious dishes donated by members of the community included stuffed vine leaves (Koubebia – Cypriot dolmades), Greek meatballs, Pasticcio, Moussaka hot and cold meats, salads, dips pitta bread, traditional Greek cakes, desserts etc.
We also had a selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes.
The generosity of committee members and the community in making posters, printing tickets, supplying dishes and supporting the event meant that AFTER PAYING FOR THE COST OF THE Band hire, hall hire and staff there was a profit of £1,955
Thank you also to all who also donated prizes for the Tombola
The money raised is going towards the cost of accommodation for our priest. The cost of this is approximately £4,000 in upgrading and renovating the accommodation.
We look forward to your support for future events and are open to suggestions for fund raising.
Any contributions and donations for ongoing projects including work for the priest’s accommodation, a light fixture for the Psalterion and the upkeep and general expenses of the church are welcome.
Donations can be made to any member of the Committee, paid into the bank account, or by Credit Card via Paypal
